However, they’re also two things that can leave your skin— especially around your abdomen— looking loser than ever before. Avoid NSAIDS

Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs or NSAIDs like aspirin and ibuprofen may be your go-to when you have a headache, injury, or fever but they can also increase bleeding both during and after surgery. We encourage all of our patients— unless you have a blood clotting condition or another health issue— to get off of NSAIDs before surgery so that they are out of your system on the day of.

Stop Smoking

If you are a smoker and have been looking for an excuse to stop, consider your abdominoplasty your biggest reason. Smoking cigarettes slow down your body’s ability to naturally heal itself after surgery which puts you at a greater risk of infection. If you need help smoking, contact our office, and we can put you in contact with a support group.

Adjust Medications

During your initial consultation with Dr. George Philip Smith, he will go over your medical history and any current medications you are taking. Depending on your medications, he may recommend that you adjust them for a few weeks before surgery.
