How to Tell If You Need to Have Your Breasts Redone

Breast Augmentation East Brunswick, NJOne of the questions that many of our patients have during their initial breast augmentation consultation is how they will be able to tell if they need to have their breasts redone. Depending on the type of implant that you have, it may be easier or harder for you to know if you need to have them replaced. For instance, it is recommended that patients with traditional silicone implants have MRI’s done every couple of years to check for a rupture because they can be hard to detect. Whereas saline implant ruptures are really visible and usually won’t require any imaging. So, other than getting an MRI done, how can you tell if you need to have your breasts redone?

It’s Been 10 years

On average, 20% of women will need to have their breast implants replaced after 10 years, but that’s clearly not the case for every woman. Some women may be able to wait 20 years to have their breast implants redone, but that is something that varies from patient to patient. If you are hitting your 10-year mark and are wondering if you need to have your breasts redone, then schedule an appointment with Dr. Smith.

They Are Deflated

Does it seem like you have put your breast implants through the ringer? Have you breastfed with your implants and had them for a long amount of time? Have you started to notice that they seem a bit more deflated than they used to? If so, then it may be time for you to get them redone.

They Are Asymmetrical

If you have noticed that your breasts are asymmetrical then this is a sign of a rupture and you should call our office right away. Even though a rupture isn’t necessarily hazardous for your health, it should be handled as soon as possible.

If you have breast implants or if you are considering getting breast implants from Dr. Smith, he will talk to you about everything you need to know about getting them redone. As previously mentioned, the type of breast implant you get will help you determine how often you should have them redone.
