Summer Skin Care Tips

One of the most popular treatments that we offer our patients is Botox. By relaxing the muscles in the forehead and around the eyes, Botox helps to both correct the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and also prevent the formation in the first place. In addition to getting Botox and fillers, though, we also encourage our patients to take good care of their skin, especially in the summer. So, what can you do?

Wear an SPF

Wearing sunscreen isn’t just something that you should apply in the summer; it’s something that you should be wearing all year long. But, because you are likely spending more time outside in the summer than at any other time of year, it’s especially important that you wear an SPF. When shopping for a sunscreen, make sure that you find one that’s broad spectrum and that contains ingredients in it like zinc and titanium dioxide.

Change up Your Skincare

Another thing that we encourage patients to do is change up their skincare in the summer. Because the air is dry, you will need to wear a thick moisturizer both in the day and at night. If you are currently on prescription medication like retinol, make sure that you baby your skin because it can make it more prone to burning and peeling.

Wear Cover-Ups

The less sun exposure your skin gets, the better. People who tend to have the best skin as they age have had minimal sun throughout their lives. If you want to keep yourself protected from sun damage, wear cover ups and a big sun hat. Remember to buy a wide brimmed hat when you are shopping for one; the more coverage your face, neck, and decolletage get, the less likely you are to show signs of sun damage later on.

These are just some basic things you can do to shield your skin from unnecessary sun damage. If you want to learn a little bit more, contact our Brooklyn office at (718) 608-1111.
