How to Prepare for a Tummy Tuck

Tummy Tuck East Brunswick NJ

Having a tight, taut tummy might be something that you thought you got rid of in your twenties, but it doesn’t have to be that way. Here at our office, tummy tucks are one of the most popular procedures that we offer because they give patients of almost all ages great results. Whether you have loose skin on your abdomen because of genetics, weight loss, or pregnancy, a tummy tuck can help give you a sexier look.

To ensure that you get the most out of your surgery, there are a few things that we will do to help you prepare. Let’s take a closer look.

Stop Taking NSAIDs

One of the things that we tell our patients to avoid for at least a couple of weeks before surgery is non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs like ibuprofen or Motrin. Although these drugs can help you get rid of pain and inflammation, they are also blood thinners, which can cause complications if you take them before surgery.

Get a Ride Home

You aren’t going to be able to drive yourself home after a surgical procedure like a tummy tuck. Arrange to have someone come and pick you up from our office, drive you back, and stay with you while you recover. Having someone at your house to help you around will be critical while you are getting rest.

Get Labs Done

Another thing that we have our patients do before surgery is to get some labs done so that we can ensure that you are strong and healthy before surgery. Typically, we will have you come into our office a few days before surgery, and we will do some blood work to give us a better idea of what your overall health is like.

Preparing ahead of time for a significant surgery like a tummy tuck is crucial. If you want to learn more about how you can prepare, contact our Oakhurst office and call us at (718) 608-1111
